ANOTHER WARM AND HUMID DAY; SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
DEVELOPING IN THE AFTERNOON…
Today featured early morning clouds and fog, giving way
to some sunshine by mid morning. A mix of sun and clouds
was the theme until early to mid afternoon when clouds
grew into towering cumulus and then cumulonimbus. A light
rain shower passed over the summit between 12-1pm, with
heavier thunderstorms seen to the east through south.
By the 1 P.M. observation lightning could be observed to
the distant south. Thunder was finally heard after the
official observation with heavier rain showers arriving
by around 2 P.M.
Humidity levels were sticky into the early afternoon with
the dew point hovering near 70F, however it began to drop
off into the mid 60s early this afternoon with a wind
shift to the northwest.
The wind had been generally on the light side through the
morning hours, finally picking up early this afternoon
with the shift in direction.
The high so far today is 84F, which is 7 degrees above
the normal high of 77F. The low since midnight is 67F,
which is 8 degrees above the daily normal low of 59F.
