DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
TUESDAY, JUNE 16, 2015
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
RAIN TAPERS OVERNIGHT, THICK FOG TO START THE DAY
Measurable rain came to an end around midnight this morning,
bringing a storm total of 0.60 inches to the summit. The
significant rainfall was able to knock back the monthly
deficit to near normal levels; however, the deficit
for the year remains above 3 inches.
Thick fog this morning reduced visibility at times to
just 1/16 of a mile on the surface, along with just
100 feet of vertical visibility. Temperatures were slow
to rise throughout the morning with fog in place as well,
reaching the 60F degree mark by 9:30 AM EST. Winds have
been remarkably low and completely calm for both the
7:00 AM EST and 10:00 AM EST observations.
By the 1:00 PM EST observation fog had lifted but plentiful
humidity still existed at 86% and a dew point of 66F. Skies
were overcast with a visibility of 20 miles in most directions
and a maximum temperature of 70F at the observation.
