HAZY, HOT, AND HUMID WITH ABUNDANT SUNSHINE….

Sunshine has been the theme today as the atmosphere is quite
warm well up the column. Some cumulus have been forming, but
they are not really lasting very long. Some cirrus clouds
have been advancing in from the west and northwest, but they
are rather thin and not doing much to filter the sun at all.

Temperatures have risen into the mid 90s early this afternoon
which is getting close to our record high value for today of
97F degrees set in 1949. Dew point values have been in the low
70s most of the day, but has dropped a bit into the upper 60s
early this afternoon as some dry air attempts to mix down from
aloft. Either way, heat index values are still approaching the
100F degree mark. As such extreme caution should be used
outdoors today.

The wind has been fairly steady today out of the west, but
generally under 12mph, except for a few gusts exceeding 15mph.
The average speed for the day so far is around 10mph, with a
peak gust of 22mph occurring around 12:45pm this afternoon.

Visibility has been limited today due to haziness. The view
has been hanging around 20-25 miles for the day so far.

The maximum temperature so far today is 95F degrees, which is
13 degrees above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 71F degrees, which is 7 degrees above the
normal low of 64F.
