EARLY FOG BURNS OFF TO MAINLY SUNNY SKIES WITH HOT AND HUMID
CONDITIONS….
We started the day once again with low clouds and fog following
some light rain showers that moved through overnight. The showers
only left 0.06″ of rain, but it’s adding to what has turned into
a very wet month.
The clouds and fog burned off quickly leaving us with mainly
sunny skies through the balance of the day so far. Hot and humid
conditions are impacting the area with heat index values pushing
into the mid 90s. A heat advisory is in effect for the high heat
index values of 96F or higher.
Temperatures have warmed to near 90 early this afternoon with dew
point values hanging in the low to mid 70s. As such, it’s rather
oppressive out there again today, combining with the heat.
To make matters worse, the wind has been on the light side since
early this morning. A mostly west-southwest to southwest wind has
been averaging at around 8mph for the day so far. The peak gust
for the day so far is 20mph, which occurred right before 3am this
morning.
The fog lifted very early this morning, so we’ve observed 30-40
miles of visibility for all of our observations today. Conditions
are hazy as one would expect with such high humidity levels.
The maximum temperature so far today is 89F degrees, which is
7 degrees above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 71F degrees, which is 7 degrees above the normal
low of 64F.
