CLOUDS AND LIGHT SNOW THIS MORNING, GIVING WAY TO PARTIAL SUNSHINE
THIS AFTERNOON…
A period of light snow occurred this morning bringing a total of
0.8″ of accumulation. With the ground warm and temperatures just
under freezing here on the summit, we only had a 1 inch snow
depth briefly between 8-10am. Otherwise, it was a trace at the
time of both the 7am and 1pm observations.
Clouds are breaking this afternoon allowing for some partial
sunshine, however cold air advection is taking place at the
same time. As such temperatures are holding in the lower 30s.
The dew point is dropping fairly markedly early this afternoon,
from around 30 this morning, to the low 20s early this afternoon.
The wind is also increasing this afternoon thanks to the cold air
advection. After being quite light all morning, gusts over 20mph
are now occurring. The average speed for the day so far is around
7mph, but increasing.
Visibility is improving as well as the drier air moves into the
region. After being only around 1/4 mile early this morning in
snow and fog, it is now up to an excellent 70 miles early this
afternoon.
The high so far today is 39F degrees, which occurred back at
midnight. This is 4 degrees above the normal maximum of 35F.
The low since midnight is 29F degrees, which is 12 degrees above
the normal minimum of 17F.
