DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2017
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

UNSEASONABLY MILD TEMPERATURES CONTINUE

Temperatures continued to warm from yesterday’s 52F and
reached 56F at the 1PM EST observation. The normal temperature
for today is 40F. Winds switched back to coming from the south and
were milder than yesterday. Winds were light between the 10AM and
1PM observations. Visibility varied from 40-70 miles throughout the
day due to distant early morning fog and late morning/early afternoon
haze. The morning brought overcast skies and started to break up by
the 1PM observation. Humidity lowered throughout the day and made for
a drier afternoon.

The new daily high minimum temperature record of 47F on
February 24, 2017 ties as second-highest minimum temperature
for February at Blue Hill Observatory.  The three-day cumulative
temperature departure for February 23-25, 2017 of +79F ranks as
third highest three-day cumulative temperature departure for the
winter season.
