QUITE MILD TODAY WITH A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS HERE AT BLUE HILL…
We started the morning with an undercast being observed as the
lower areas were being impacted by fog. Meanwhile here on the
summit we had plenty of sunshine under only some scattered high
thin cirrus clouds. The undercast did eventually lift, allowing
the fog to overtake the Hill for a time during the mid morning
hours before finally burning off. Sunshine has mainly been the
theme otherwise, although some mid level clouds are starting to
move in early this afternoon. Also a fog bank is being observed
right along the shore-line to the north-northeast and east. It’s
very spring-like in many ways today.
Temperatures have reached the upper 50s early this afternoon as a
well above normal air mass continues to infiltrate the region.
The dew point has reached the low to mid 40s, so the moisture
content of the air has increased markedly since yesterday.
The wind has been fairly steady today out of the south. The
average speed for the day so far has been around 9mph. The peak
gust thus far is around 20mph, which occurred just after 10am
this morning.
Visibility has been limited today thanks to the fog this morning,
and then general haziness this afternoon. The view was only 10-15
miles this morning, and has only improved to around 35 miles
early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 57F degrees, which is 17
degrees above the normal high of 40F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 29F degrees, which is 7 degrees above the normal low
of 22F.
