A QUICK MOVING, BUT INTENSE STORM BRINGS SNOW AND WIND TO BLUE HILL….

Snow began falling at 5:48am this morning with a temperature
of 35F degrees. Light, very wet snow continued through the
mid morning hours before a heavy band moved into the area.
Only a trace of snow was measured by 7am, with 0.8″ being
measured by 10am. The heavy snow band really got going just
after the 10am observation which also coincided with the
temperature slipping just below freezing. This allowed for
additional snow accumulation to quickly take place as the
snow became less dense (wet). An additional 3.2″ fell by the
1pm observation. Then finally another 0.3″ fell after that
time before the snow finally came to an end just before 2:30pm.

Total snowfall for the event is 4.3″ with 0.63″ total liquid.

The temperature has now dropped into the upper 20s with cloudy
skies remaining through the mid afternoon hours.

The wind started the day out of the north-northeast and north-
east, then veered to the east and east-northeast for a few hours
this morning. It has since backed to the north early to mid
afternoon. Winds are gusty with frequent gusts of 20-30mph. The
peak gust so far is around 40mph occurring just after 2pm.

The maximum temperature today is 35F degrees, which is 2 degrees
below the normal high of 37F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 28F degrees, which is 9 degrees above the normal low
of 19F.
