MUCH COLDER TODAY FOLLOWING THE “WARM” CONDITIONS YESTERDAY….

Another strong cold front plowed through the region last night
bringing with it a brief period of heavy rain and strong wind
gusts.

Rainfall with the front totaled 0.24″, but half of that fell in
1 hour between 10-11 P.M. last night, the hour in which the front
crossed the hill. As a matter of fact, the temperature dropped
13 degrees within that hour!

The front also brought strong wind gusts with a peak gust to 59mph
being measured here on the hill.

Today is much calmer with increasing high clouds and much colder
air. The wind is also much lighter today only averaging around
15 mph since 7 A.M. this morning.

The air is definitely much drier today with the dew point holding
in the upper teens and low 20s. Contrast this to readings in the 50s
yesterday!

With the dry air, visibility is excellent today, rising to 70 miles
by mid morning!

The high so far today is 40F, which is 3 degrees below the normal
max of 43F. The low since midnight is 33F, 6 degrees above the
normal low of 27F.
