STORMY MORNING GIVES WAY TO PARTIAL SUNSHINE THIS AFTERNOON…
It was a rather stormy morning across the area with periods
of showers, thunderstorms, and even a confirmed tornado on
the South Coast of Massachusetts. While no thunder was observed
here at Blue Hill, we did have a couple of periods of downpours
which left 0.47″ of water in the gauge. However some locales to
the west through north of here received over 3-4 inches of
water, which led to some flooding.
In addition to the rain, winds were gusty this morning with
frequent gusts over 30mph, and a peak near 40mph. The average
speed for the day so far is around 15mph.
As we entered the afternoon hours, the rain moved east and
some partial clearing had taken place. However, the dew point
has been on the rise as a warm front has passed through.
Readings have reached the mid 70s early this afternoon, making
it feel rather oppressive out there.
The temperature has rebounded to the upper 70s and low 80s
with the partial sun.
Visibility was limited this morning due to rain and fog, but
has improved to around 40 miles early this afternoon.
The temperature has been seasonable today with a high so far
of 80F, which is 1 degree below the normal high of 81F. The
minimum temperature today is 69F, which is 5 degrees above
the normal low of 64F.
