COLD FRONT BRINGS RAIN AND A STEEP DROP IN TEMPERATURES ON
BLUE HILL TODAY….
Early morning showers made their way to Blue Hill giving us about
0.20″ of rain as of 1pm today. There is still rain in the area so
we expect that amount to increase.
Temperatures have taken a dramatic dive since yesterday with the
passing of a cold front early this morning. Around midnight we
were in the lower 70’s and dropped to 62F during the morning.
With the overcast skies and isolated pockets of rain coming into
the region we have not been able to recover the temperatures.
Dew points remain in the lower 60’s which is an improvement from
the 70’s that we have currently been experiencing.
Winds were more productive this morning and have slowly tapered
off to slower speeds by the afternoon. We have averaged about
9mph today with winds mostly out of the ENE. Our peak gust so
far for the day occurred around 9:30am with a speed of 26 mph.
Visibility has been rather poor today due to the showers and
low cloud deck. This morning was only 1/8 of a mile while
during the dry spell in the late morning we had some areas
that had about 20 miles of visibility. Thin fog has dominated the
area as well, further impacting the visibility.
The maximum temperature so far today is 73F, which is 8 degrees
below the normal high of 81F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 62F, which is 2 degrees below the normal low of 64F.
