MORE CLOUDS THAN SUN WITH INCREASING HUMIDITY LEVELS…
Clouds have dominated the sky today with only a few brief
peeks of sunshine at times. A fog bank is observed offshore
to the NNE through E early this afternoon with Boston
Harbor completely obscured by it.
Despite the clouds, the temperature has made it to the mid
70s, with the dew point rising from the low 60s to the upper
60s as the day has progressed. The increase in humidity
levels has certainly been noticeable as it’s starting to
feel rather uncomfortable outside.
The wind has been light all day with an average of only
around 6mph. The peak gust so far is only around 14mph.
Visibility has been a bit variable with patchy fog around
this morning, and now with the fog bank along the coast this
afternoon. Generally it has ranged between 8 and 40 miles
throughout the day.
The maximum temperature so far today has been 76F, which is
2 degrees below the normal high of 78F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 61F, which is equal to the normal low of 61F.
Through yesterday, Summer of 2023 (Jun-Aug) is now 8th wettest
on record going back to 1886. Here are the top 10 wettest
summers as compiled by our Chief Scientist, Mike Iacono.
