CLOUDS BREAKING, LESS WIND AND A BIT MILDER TODAY….
An ocean storm continues to spin south of Nova Scotia
sending a spoke of clouds across eastern Massachusetts. As
drier air tries to work in aloft however, clouds have been
breaking up allowing for a fair amount of sunshine as we
move through the early afternoon hours.
The wind, which is considerably less gusty than yesterday
continues to blow out of the north-northwest occasionally
gusting to around 20 mph.
Visibility has once again been spectacular hanging out at
around 80 miles all day!
The high today so far today is 61F, this is 9 degrees above
the normal high of 52F. The low since midnight is 40F, which
is 6 degrees above the daily normal low of 34F.
As many are aware, March tends to be a rather cloudy month
here in coastal Southern New England, however March 2021
was tied for the sunniest March on our record going back to
1886. We recorded 243.0 hours of sunshine this March, tying
with March 1915 for sunniest! Here is the current ranking
via our Chief Scientist Mike Iacono…
BHO Sunniest March, hours (1886-2021):
1) 243.0 in 1915 [68%] 243.0 in 2021 [68%]3) 236.7 in 1946 [66%]4) 230.1 in 1978 [64%]5) 215.0 in 2006 [60%]
