RAIN AND FOG EARLY THIS MORNING GIVE WAY TO SUNSHINE AND WARM AIR….
Rain showers began shortly after midnight and continued until
just after 4am this morning. Some of the showers came down
moderately for a time with 0.26″ of rain being recorded by 7am.
Dense fog persisted until the mid morning hours before it began
to lift, shortly there after the stratus layer dissipated
allowing for sunshine to take over. As we move through the early
afternoon hours, diurnal cumulus clouds have developed with the
surface heating taking place.
Temperatures have warmed quite a bit following the warm frontal
passage early this morning. Readings have reached the low to mid
70s this afternoon. The dew point has also been on the rise,
reaching the upper 50s by early this afternoon. There is a bit of
a humid feel to the air out there.
Winds are on the light side, and have become rather variable in
terms of direction early this afternoon. The average speed so far
is around 9mph, owing to some stronger winds during the pre-dawn
hours. The peak gust occurred just before 1:30am with a value of
30mph.
Visibility has gradually improved from around 1/16th of a mile
this morning to around 45 miles on average early this afternoon.
The fog this morning has transitioned to haziness this afternoon.
The maximum temperature for today is 74F degrees, which is 15
degrees above the normal high of 59F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 44F degrees, which is 3 degrees above the
normal low of 41F.
