COASTAL STORM BROUGHT HEAVY RAIN OVERNIGHT; DRYING OUT THIS AFTERNOON….
A coastal storm moving northward through southern New England
early this morning brought periods of heavy rainfall to the
region during the overnight hours. 0.96″ of needed rain was
measured here on the hill.
In addition to heavy rain, gusty winds were also observed with
a peak gust of 55mph occuring this morning.
As the storm moves into northern New England this afternoon,
breaks in the clouds this afternoon are allowing for partial sunshine
and drying conditions. However this sunshine is also helping to build
up more rain/snow showers to the southwest through northwest of
the Hill.
Temperatures are responding to the sunshine with readings getting
into the low to mid 50s.
It has remained windy with the wind shifting to the southwest this
afternoon. Gusts exceeding 40mph continue to occur frequently.
Visibility is improving as well, getting upwards to 50 miles this
afternoon after being limited by fog this morning.
The high so far today is 55F, which is 3 degrees below the
normal maximum of 58F. The low since midnight is 40F, which
is 1 degree above the normal minimum of 39F.
