FINALLY A CHANGE, OVERCAST WITH PERIODS OF LIGHT RAIN AND DRIZZLE…
What’s this strange wet stuff falling from the sky today? Finally
we’re seeing some measurable rainfall today after going 11 days
with not even a trace. As a matter of fact, today is only the 3rd
day to receive measurable rainfall since August 20th! So far 0.10″
of rain has fallen since it began just before 8am this morning.
Temperatures are being held down by the clouds and rainfall.
Readings have only made it to the mid 60s so far today. With the
air being saturated, the dew point is also in the mid 60s, so it
does feel quite humid out there, especially when compared to
earlier in the week when the dew point was as low as the 30s!
The wind has been gradually increasing through the morning hours
with an average speed for the day thus far of around 11mph. It has
been gusty with frequent gusts over 20mph. The peak gust so far
for the day is 27mph, which occurred right around 11am this
morning.
Visibility was around 30 miles early this morning, but dropped
markedly by mid morning as the low clouds pushed across the summit.
The view during that time was a 1/4 mile or less. The clouds have
lifted by the 1pm observation, thus the visibility has improved,
up to 20 miles off to the NW-NE, but still as low as 7 miles to
the ESE-S and WSW-WNW.
The maximum temperature so far today is 66F, which is 6 degrees
below the normal high of 72F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 60F, which is 5 degrees above the normal low of 55F.
