BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2023
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)
SUNRISE: 0545E
SUNSET:  1719E

UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES CONTINUES UNDER MAINLY SUNNY SKIES…

While we had sunshine even at the start of the day here on the
summit, a low deck of clouds and fog left many below with a murky
start to the day. A complete undercast was observed here early this
morning with clear skies and 15 miles visibility above it. It was
quite the view!

Since then, the low clouds and fog have burned off leaving everyone
with plenty of sunshine into this afternoon. Temperatures have once
again responded nicely to the heating from the sun with readings
getting well up into the 70s. These temperatures are still running
10-15 degrees above the expected normals for this time of year. The
dew point also remains on the higher side with values in the low 60s,
making for a bit of a humid feel out there.

The wind has been light again today out of mainly a southerly
direction. The average speed so far is only around 8mph, with a peak
gust so far of around 20mph.

Visibility was limited early this morning due to fog and haze, but
has improved into early this afternoon. After starting the day with
only being able to see about 15 miles, we can now see upwards to 40
miles early this afternoon.

The maximum temperature so far today has been 77F, which is 12
degrees above the normal high of 65F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 59F, which is 11 degrees above the normal low
of 48F.
