MAINLY SUNNY WITH NEAR RECORD WARM TEMPERATURES ON THIS HALLOWEEN….

Other than cirrus clouds painting the sky, it has been a mainly
sunny day after some early morning patchy fog across the low lying
areas surrounding Blue Hill.

Temperatures started the day on the warm side, missing the record
high minimum for the day by only 2 degrees with a low of 57F. Of
course it was only up from there with readings reaching the low 70s
by late this morning, and getting into the mid 70s early this
afternoon. The record high for today is 79F set in 1946, but it
appears we’ll fall short of reaching this value today. Stay tuned!
The dew point has been holding in the mid 50s, so it does feel a bit
sticky, especially compared to earlier this week when dew point
values were in the 20s and 30s.

Winds have been fairly steady today, mainly out of the west-southwest
averaging at around 13mph. The peak gust so far for the day is 24mph,
which occurred way back at around 12:45am.

Visibility has been somewhat limited today, first by thin fog early
this morning, and then by general haziness for the balance of the
day. The view improved from 20 miles early this morning to around
35-40 miles by early this afternoon.

The maximum temperature so far today is 76F, which is 20 degrees
above the normal high of 56F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 57F, which is 18 degrees above the normal low of 39F.

As we all know, it’s been a rather dry month across the region. The
month of October is currently ranking as 6th driest on record here
at Blue Hill. Here is the list of rankings as compiled by our Chief
Scientist Mike Iacono.
