OVERCAST, DAMP, AND COLD WITH PERIODS OF RAIN AND SLEET THIS MORNING…

A storm system passing well to our northwest has brought a band
of precipitation across the area today. It has been cold enough
that some of the precipitation has fallen in the form of sleet
early this morning. There was some minor accumulation on some
of the colder surfaces, but not enough to call it a tenth, as
such, we have yet to record any measurable “snowfall” so far
this season. Of course, we all know it’s still quite early!

Liquid equivalent precipitation has totalled 0.09″ so far for
today, so all in all the rain and sleet have been on the light
side. The month continues to exhibit a healthy deficit, with
the total being more than 1 inch below normal to date.

Temperatures have remained on the cold side with readings holding
in the 30s today. With the dew point also in the 30s, it just feels
raw out there today. Rather typical of November.

Winds have been on the light side with variable directions this
morning, finally settling on more of an easterly direction as we
moved through the late morning and early afternoon hours. The
average speed so far is only around 7mph. A peak gust of around
18mph has been measured so far for the day.

Prevailing visibility was around 40 miles this morning, with lower
values during times of precipitation, however visibility has
markedly decreased early this afternoon as we’re now into the
clouds. The visibility has dropped to around 1/4 mile.

The maximum temperature so far today is 40F, which is 12 degrees
below the normal high of 52F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 32F, which is 4 degrees below the normal low of 36F.
