A WIND-WHIPPED THANKSGIVING TODAY: COLD FRONT BRINGS COOLER
TEMPS, GUSTY WINDS, AND A TRACE OF RAIN OVERNIGHT….

Blue Hill received a trace of precipitation late last night into
the early morning as a cold front passed through the area. Behind
the front has left us significantly colder temperatures and strong
westerly winds. The sky has been partly cloudy for much of the day,
with an increase in clouds in the afternoon.

Temperatures remained mild through last night until around 2am
this morning and continued to drop until just after 7am. Our low
for the day is 10 degrees below yesterday’s low and because the
air is significantly drier it feels every bit colder today. Dew
point values were in the upper 20’s but have dropped into the mid
20’s by the afternoon.

Wind has continued to be the star of the show this month. While
we had a strong southwesterly flow yesterday, the passage of the
cold front has shifted us into a more westerly and west-north westerly
flow. Winds were the strongest during the overnight, but we have
still experienced frequent gusts in the 25mph-30mph range throughout
the morning hours. The average speed for the day so far is around
15mph. The peak gust for the day so far is 43mph, which occurred
at 3:17am this morning.

Visibility has been in the 50-70 mile range for much of the day.

The maximum temperature so far today is 54F degrees, which is
8 degrees above the normal high of 46F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 38F degrees, which is 8 degrees above the
normal low of 30F.
