BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2018
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

OVERCAST SKIES AND COLD NORTHERLY AIR…

Today’s weather has seen altostratus dominate
cloud activity throughout the observation period,
providing an overcast layer that has significantly limited
effects of radiational heating.  The continued presence
of northwesterly winds has kept temperatures well below
normal, with a low of 19F recorded in the early hours of
the day. This is 15 degrees below the daily average, and just
four degrees above the daily record low of 15F set in 1933.
Wind speeds have dropped significantly since yesterday,
where several anemometers registered gusts up to 50 MPH;
since then, winds have approached zero at different points
this morning.  Pressure continues to lower at a steady
and gradual rate, right through the time of the 1 P.M. observation.
If this trend continues, it should enforce cloud cover
and potentially encourage precipitation for the evening hours.
