SUNSET: 1912E
OVERCAST WITH PERIODS OF LIGHT DRIZZLE….
As a very weak low pressure system passes to the south of the region,
clouds have been stuck over the area all day. There were enough thin
spots in the clouds at times this morning to allow for a few peeks
of sunshine here and there. Some light rain crossed the area over-
night in association with the developing low pressure which brought
0.05″ of rain by the 7am observation this morning. Since then, only
some periods of mainly light drizzle have occurred leaving only a
trace through 1pm.
Temperatures are of course cooler today than the past couple of days
thanks to the cloud cover. Readings have reached the mid 60s by
early this afternoon, which is below normal for late May. The dew
point has been holding generally in the mid to upper 50s through the
day.
Winds have been gradually diminishing from the steady values of the
early to mid morning hours. Speeds were generally around 10mph during
those hours, but have slowed to around 5-7mph on average over the
past couple of hours. The overall average speed for the day so far is
around 9mph. The peak gust of course was this morning, occurring just
after 8:30am with a value of 21mph.
Visibility has been somewhat variable today due to the areas of
drizzle. On the whole it’s been averaging around 40 miles most of
the day with lower values in various sectors at times.
The maximum temperature for today is 65F degrees, which is 5 degrees
below the normal high of 70F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 54F degrees, which is 2 degrees above the normal low of 52F.
