CLOUDY SKIES WITH PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS….

So far the day has turned out to be a bit stormier than expected
with two bouts of showers and thunderstorms moving through the
area so far today. The first round came through early this
morning between 6-7am. 0.08″ of rain was left in the gauge, so
while it didn’t rain very hard or last very long, it did still
offer a bit of excitement to start the day. The second round
started just after 11am and has continued past the 1pm
observation. This round has left an additional 0.30″ of rain
in the gauge through 1pm.

Due to all the clouds and rain, the temperatures have not been
able to get as warm as predicted. We were expecting highs to
once again be in the mid to upper 80s today, however so far the
max has only reached the mid 70s, occurring this morning during
the period between the rain. The dew point spiked for a time
following the early morning rain, with readings reaching the
upper 60s for the first time this year. It definitely feels
quite humid today.

The wind has been generally steady today to this point with a
southwest to south-southwest wind averaging around 12mph. The
peak gust thus far for the day is 29mph, which occurred right
around noon time.

Visibility has been limited today to generally 20-30 miles,
however it has dropped below 6 miles during times of rainfall.

The maximum temperature so far today is 74F degrees, which is 5
degrees above the normal high of 69F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 61F degrees, which is 11 degrees above the
normal low of 50F.
