BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
THURSDAY, MARCH 28, 2019
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

A FAIR WEATHER DAY WITH DROPPING PRESSURE AND INCREASING
AFTERNOON WINDS….

We observed a rather limited visibility of 50 miles at most
due to a distant haze. Wind picked up in the afternoon, with
the highest gust of 32 mph occurring shortly before the 1 P.M.
observation. The wind increase happened in conjunction with a
pressure drop of almost 4 millibars between 10 A.M. and 1 P.M.
A smoke plume could be observed a few miles south of Boston
at 10 A.M. Despite freezing overnight lows the last couple
nights, both Houghton’s Pond and Lake Ponkapoag have remained
unfrozen. We have reached a high of 50F so far today, 3 degrees
above the daily normal maximum of 48F. The low since midnight
is 28F, 2 degrees below the normal minimum of 30F.
