OVERNIGHT STORMS GIVE WAY TO BEAUTIFUL CONDITIONS….
Following several rounds of showers and thunderstorms last night
and into early this morning, during which we received 1.83″ of
rainfall, conditions have been quite pleasant today. Skies cleared
briefly this morning, before cumulus began to develop and dot the sky.
Still, cooler temperatures combined with a falling dew point and
plenty of sunshine makes it a great day to be outside.
Temperature-wise, we began the morning in the mid 60s, and have since
risen into the upper 70s by the afternoon. The dew point also began
in the mid 60s as the air was saturated this morning, but has been
slowly falling throughout the day, reaching the low 60s as of the last
observation.
The wind has slowed a bit since yesterday, with an average so far of only
8mph. The prevailing direction has been somewhat variable due to light
speeds, but generally the flow is out of the west. The peak gust is
only about 21mph, occurring a bit before 11am.
Visibility has markedly improved as dryer air pushes in. Views this
morning were limited to 30 miles due to thin fog, but they quickly
jumped to 60 miles by late morning.
The maximum temperature so far today is 78F, which is 1 degree
below the normal high of 79F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 64F, which is 3 degrees above the normal low of 61F.
