THE HEATWAVE IS OFFICIAL WITH ANOTHER DAY OF RECORD WARM
TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS….

The heatwave has now become official as today marks the 3rd
consecutive day with temperatures of 90F or higher. So far
we’ve reached 94F (93.8F) degrees, which ties the record for
the date with 1953. It may still go up a bit more, so stay
tuned for the final figure. The low temperature for the day
so far is 69F, which, barring the passage of a thunderstorm
this evening, will likely hold through midnight tonight.
If it does, it will set a new record high minimum for the
date, beating the old record of 68F set in 1923 and 1931.

Skies are much the same as the past couple of days with a
veil of high thin cirrus clouds creating a milky looking sky.
Hazy conditions continue to the be the theme as well thanks
to the high dew point air.

Humidity levels are once again into the oppressive category
with readings into the low to mid 70s.

The wind has been fairly steady today, averaging at around
10mph for the day so far. The average wind direction has been
west-southwest to this point. The peak gust so far is 20mph,
which occurred just before 2:30am this morning.

Visibility has been limited once again today due to the
haziness. The view has been between 20-30 miles all day.

The maximum temperature so far today is 94F degrees, which is
17 degrees above the normal high of 77F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 69F, which is 10 degrees above the normal
low of 59F.

With this June heatwave taking shape, here is the ranking for
longest June Heatwaves here at Blue Hill, as compiled by our
Chief Scientist Mike Iacono.
