HAZY, HOT, AND HUMID CONDITIONS ARRIVE AT BLUE HILL….
We started the day in the clouds with very dense fog and very
limited visibility, however the fog burned off fairly quickly
with sunshine taking over. This of course set the stage for what
is a hot and humid day. A heat advisory is in effect until 8pm
this evening.
Temperatures have made it to the upper 80s so far, destined for
the low 90s. With the dew point in the low 70s, the heat index
is already up to 96F as of the 1pm observation. Use extreme
caution if outdoors today.
Winds were on the lighter side through the morning, but have
become a bit gusty early this afternoon as the convective
temperature has been reached and some mixing starts to take place
from aloft. The average speed for the day so far is around 9mph
out of a southwesterly direction. The peak gust so far occurred
after the 1pm observation and is 24mph.
As mentioned, the visibility was very limited early this morning
with the view only 1/16th to 1/8th of a mile. As the fog lifted,
the view improved markedly to around 40 miles by the mid morning
hours, and has remained there into this afternoon.
The maximum temperature for today is 89F degrees, which is 12
degrees above the normal high of 77F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 66F degrees, which is 7 degrees above the
normal low of 59F.
