BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 2023
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)
SUNRISE: 0407E
SUNSET:  1923E

A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS TODAY; SEASONABLY WARM AND DRY….

A thunderstorm moved through the area last evening, but the
heaviest rain seemed to circumnavigate the hill as we only
recorded 0.06″ of rain. However a decent amount of lightning
occurred making for an exciting event nonetheless.

For today, a mix of sun and clouds has been the theme, with
a dry west to west-northwest wind blowing across the hill.
This wind direction is also allowing for some downsloping,
which is helping temperatures to warm nicely early this
afternoon. Readings have reached the mid 70s, which is about
where we should be for this time of year. The dew point has
been pretty steady all day in the upper 50s. When compared
to readings in the low to mid 60s the past few days, today
feels rather refreshing.

The wind started off on the light side, but has increased a bit
this afternoon thanks to some mixing from aloft. The average
speed for the day has been around 8mph, but the average the last
couple of hours has been closer to 11mph. The peak gust so far
for the day is around 20mph, occurring right around the 1pm
observation.

Visibility has been improving through the day, starting at only
around 20 miles early this morning, but recovering to around
50 miles early this afternoon.

The high temperature so far today is 74F, this is 1 degree below
the normal maximum of 75F. The low since midnight is 56F, this is
2 degrees below the normal minimum of 58F.
