MAINLY SUNNY AND WARM WITH A GUSTY WESTERLY WIND….

Sunshine has been the theme for most of the day with the exception
of a brief period during the mid to late morning hours when a
batch of thicker high clouds passed through the area. Otherwise
it’s been another hazy sky as a thin smoke layer from the Canadian
wildfires continues to pass overhead in the upper levels.

Temperatures have warmed to into the mid 80s this afternoon after
a rather “warm” overnight where the low only made it down to the
mid 60s. It was also humid this morning with the dew point in the
low 60s, however as mixing from aloft has maximized this afternoon,
moisture levels have dropped off fairly significantly as reflected
by dew point values down into the low 50s.

Winds have been busy today out of a westerly direction. The average
speed for the day is around 16mph. Gusts have been frequently
exceeding 30-35mph since the mid morning hours. The peak gust for
the day so far is 44mph, which occurred just before 2pm this
afternoon.

Visibility has been decreasing through the day, starting at around
25 miles early this morning, but dropping to as low as 10 miles,
especially in the northerly and easterly quadrants. All of this
obstruction is due to haziness, likely tied to the wildfire smoke.

The maximum temperature for today is 84F degrees, which is 10
degrees above the normal high of 74F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 64F degrees, which is 7 degrees above the normal low
of 57F.
