HAZY, HOT, AND HUMID TODAY UNDER MAINLY SUNNY SKIES….

Sunshine has been the theme so far for the day, but trouble does
lurk for later in the day. A cold front approaching the area looks
to bring thunderstorms later this afternoon and evening, some of
which could be on the severe side. But for now it’s a great beach
day for those fortunate enough to be able to enjoy those related
activities.

Temperatures have warmed into the upper 80s The dew point, while
still on the humid side, isn’t as oppressive as it was yesterday.
Values have been generally in the mid 60s, as opposed to the low
70s yesterday.

On an interesting note, so far this summer we’ve recorded 8 ninety
degree days (7 in June). For all of 2024 we only had a total of 10
ninety degree days (3 in June, 3 in July, and 4 in August). Also
the highest temperature for last year was 94F, which occurred twice,
on June 20th and August 2nd. Based on the forecast for the next 7
days, we look to exceed last year’s total by early next week. Stay
tuned!

The wind was on the light side through most of the morning, but has
increased a bit into early this afternoon out of mainly the west-
southwest. The average speed for the day so far is around 8mph. The
peak gust so far is 26mph, which occurred just after 1pm this
afternoon.

Visibility has been between 20-30 miles for the most part today,
due to haziness.

The maximum temperature for today is 88F degrees, which is 7 degrees
above the normal high of 81F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 67F degrees, which is 6 degrees above the normal low of 63F.
