CLOUDY START, THEN PARTIALLY CLEARING SKIES WITH FILTERED SUNSHINE….
Skies started the day on the cloudy side as some warm air advection
was taking place. Some echoes were seen on radar very early this
morning, but the air mass was too dry to allow for anything to
reach the ground, however virga was observed at that time. The clouds
cleared out by late morning for a time before more high level clouds
moved back in early this afternoon leaving us with filtered sunshine.
Temperatures are not quite as cold as the past couple of days. The
low this morning was 10 degrees warmer than yesterday! Readings have
reached the 30F degree mark just before the 1pm observation, which
feels kind of nice compared to recent days. The dew point was below
zero through last evening into early this morning, but has finally
risen into the low to mid teens by early this afternoon, indicating
that the arctic air mass is moving out of the region.
Winds were steady through most of the morning, but began to pick up
in velocity by noon-time out of the south-southwest to southwest.
The average speed for the day so far is around 10mph. The peak gust,
which occurred at 11:38am this morning, is 29mph.
Visibility has been rather limited today due to haziness with the view
only running between 30-40 miles today.
The maximum temperature for today is 30F degrees, which is 4 degrees
below the normal high of 34F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 12F degrees, which is 5 degrees below the normal low of 17F.
