LIGHTER WIND, BUT STILL COLD WITH INCREASING CLOUDINESS….
Clear skies and bright sunshine early this morning were rapidly
overtaken by increasing amounts of high cloud cover as a weak
system approaches from the west. By the time we reached mid to
late morning, the sunshine was quite filtered.
Temperatures, as mentioned, are still on the cold side today with
readings only reaching the upper 20s by early this afternoon. This
continues to run below the normal value for this time of year. The
dew point has been gradually rising from the mid to upper single
digits to the mid teens.
Winds are quite a bit lighter today, backing from the west-northwest
to the southwest as the day has progressed. The average speed
for the day so far is around 9mph, but the trend since the mid morning
hours has been for decreasing speed. The peak gust occurred early
this morning, just after 5am with a value of 20mph.
Visibility has been somewhat limited due to haziness, with the view
being no more than around 40-50 miles.
The maximum temperature for today is 29F degrees, which is 5 degrees
below the normal high of 34F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 13F degrees, which is 5 degrees below the normal low of 18F.
