ANOTHER MIXED PRECIPITATION EVENT BRINGS SNOW, ICE, AND RAIN TO BLUE
HILL….

The event started as snow during the evening hours yesterday and
accumulated to 1.1″ before mixing with and changing to freezing
rain during the wee hours of the morning. Freezing rain/freezing
drizzle continued until the temperature finally got above 32F
around 8am this morning. 1/8th of an inch (0.13″) of ice was measured
on most surfaces early this morning. Rain and drizzle has continued
into early this afternoon. Total liquid equivalent precipitation for
the event so far is 0.46″ through 1pm.

Temperatures have made it to the mid to upper 30s early this
afternoon, but with the air being fully saturated, it just feels
raw and disgusting out there today.

The wind was easterly through the morning, but has become rather
light and variable by early this afternoon. The average speed for
the day so far is around 9mph, but it’s been averaging closer to
3mph over the past couple of hours. Wind were gusty early this
morning, with a peak gust of 29mph occurring just before 5am this
morning.

Visibility has been limited today due to precipitation and fog. The
view was generally 1-2 miles during the morning, but has dropped to
around 1/4 of a mile early this afternoon with dense fog overspreading
the summit.

The maximum temperature for today is 38F degrees, which is 1 degree
above the normal high of 37F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 28F degrees, which is 9 degrees above the normal low of 19F.
