MORE RAINFALL OVERNIGHT INTO THIS MORNING, TURNING MILDER TODAY….
Rain, and even a bit of snow and sleet, developed last evening and
continued well into this morning. Rainfall totalled 0.24″ by 7am,
with an additional 0.18″ falling through 1pm. A trace of snow and
sleet will also go in the record book for yesterday’s date.
The rain came to an end finally by late this morning, however
overcast skies remain to this point with brightening taking place
at the 1pm observation.
Despite the clouds, the temperature has warmed well into the 50s by
early this afternoon as a warmer air mass floods in following the
warm frontal passage. The dew point is also rising in tandem, as
such it’s getting more humid out there. This early in the season,
one can notice the “humidity” with dew points in the mid 50s.
Winds have been fairly steady through the day as they gradually
veered from southeast to southwest. The average speed for the day
so far is around 16mph. Gusts over 30mph were common for awhile
early this morning, but has since come down a bit into early this
afternoon. The peak gust for the day so far is 35mph, which occurred
at 7:30am this morning.
Visibility was quite poor this morning with the rain and fog, down
as low as 1/16th of a mile. The view has improved markedly early
this afternoon as we can now see upwards to 30 miles.
The maximum temperature for today is 57F degrees, which is 6 degrees
above the normal high of 51F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 32F degrees, which is 1 degree below the normal low of 33F.
