Join Husband and Wife Meteorology Team, Danielle (Niles) Noyes and Matt Noyes, at Trillium Brewing Company for a Special Fundraising Event Supporting The Observatory’s Educational Programs

All of us at The Blue Hill Observatory are on a mission to serve all youth with science education programming that explores the natural setting of Great Blue Hill, but your support is needed first.

Our goal is to provide youth, who otherwise would not have the chance to come to The Observatory, with the opportunity to do so.

Our generous sponsor Trillium Brewing Company has a special offer for the community. Individuals contributing a minimum of $120 will be invited to an intimate patio-event celebration on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 8 PM at their Canton location.

Joining the event will be the outstanding husband and wife meteorology team, Danielle (Niles) Noyes and Matt Noyes.  The evening will be filled with music, delicious farm fresh food, and refreshing drinks, making it an occasion not to be missed.

More about the campaign—

All of us at The Observatory are driven by a profound commitment to inspire and educate all youth with the highest quality science programming possible. Not all youth though have the opportunity to come to The Observatory which is why your support in needed today.

Previous support from the Yawkey Foundation gave The Observatory the exciting opportunity to develop and pilot a three-tiered climate education program entitled “Picture Post for Environmental Conservation.” The pilot successfully brought hundreds of middle school students from under-resourced communities to The Observatory for the first time.

The reception from educators has been extremely positive—“I think The Blue Hill Observatory should be a part of every young person’s journey here in the Greater Boston area.” Corey J. Allen, Director of Industry Partnerships, Boston Public Schools

Students participated in two programs, “Observe and Learn” and “Picture Post Guided Hike” taking place at The Observatory. Both programs utilize pictures taken on posts at Great Blue Hill over a 14 year period and The Observatory’s own climate data to help youth to investigate the effects that weather and climate have on the environment. Teachers received supporting curriculum to strengthen the learning opportunity in their classrooms.

In order to offer the program, again, to students from under-resourced communities in the next school year (planning begins July 1st), we are seeking individual contributions today.

Our per student cost is $60 which provides the following—

  • Bus transportation to and from Great Blue Hill
  • Participation in the “Picture Post Guided Hike” and “Observe and Learn” programs represented by five hours of science instruction led by our highly credentialed, Director of STEM Education, Krista Fincke, and team
  • Time exploring The Observatory and interacting with our Chief Weather Observer
  • Complimentary curriculum and teacher support in utilizing lessons that build on the in-person educational experience at The Observatory
  • Pre-and-post surveys to students and teachers that support continuous program improvement

We are grateful that Trillium Brewing Company has offered to sponsor this campaign with a patio-event celebration for individuals making a minimum donation of $120 (supports two students).

Trillium’s beautiful patio and setting faces Great Blue Hill. You will have the opportunity to meet our friends, Danielle and Matt Noyes, who wish to be on hand to demonstrate their support.

Regardless of the amount, please know that every contribution has an impact. Thank you!
