DEW POINTS RISE INTO THE UPPER 60S, MAXIMUM OF
80F REACHED SO FAR WITH INTERMITTENT LIGHT SHOWERS
Today marks the 76th anniversary of the Great New
England Hurricane, also known as the Hurricane of 1938.
Blue Hill Observatory recorded the highest winds in
the region during this event at 121 MPH sustained
for five minutes, and the station record peak gust
of 186 MPH which was calculated from the only
anemometer to have survived the event.

Following a chilly start to Saturday morning, winds
and temperatures were on the increase with a maximum
of 71F reached by mid afternoon. Overnight two separate
light showers produced just a trace of new precipitation
through the 7:00 AM EST observation.
Light fog and a generally chaotic skies were present this
morning, with an overnight low of 60F following yesterday’s
minimum of 45F.
