AFTER A CHILLY START, MUCH MILDER UNDER ABUNDANT SUNSHINE….

This morning started off on the chilly side for most
with readings dropping into the 20s and 30 across most
areas. Some exceptions of this were Boston proper and
higher elevations, including Blue Hill. Radiational cooling
induced a classic inversion over the area, thus allowing
low lying areas to really chill out overnight.

Abundant sunshine has been the theme today with only some
high thin wispy clouds out there this afternoon. The
temperature has rebounded nicely today with the mercury
getting into the mid-upper 60s this afternoon away from
the coast. Doesn’t get much better than this in late
October!

The wind has been very light today, mainly out of a south-
southwesterly direction. The average speed for the day so
far is only around 6mph.

Visibility is excellent today, holding at around 80 miles
all day.

The high so far today is 66F, which is 10 degrees above
the normal maximum of 56F. The low since midnight is 42F,
which is 3 degrees above the normal low of 39F.
