BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2020
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
WARM, AND ANOTHER RECORD-SETTING DAY
ATOP GREAT BLUE HILL….
Today we observed partly cloudy conditions with
thin, upper-level clouds and an okay visibility of 50
miles at the 1 P.M. observation. Haze was the main
limiter of visibility, and a thin smoke layer was
seen at the 1 P.M. observation. Wind shifted from west
to northwest this morning, becoming light and
variable around noon.
With only one notable precipitation event this month,
we are currently running at a monthly deficit of a
half inch, and a yearly deficit of 3 inches.
The biggest feature was temperature for today and
yesterday, with a high of 75F yesterday and a high
of 73F so far today. This breaks two temperature
maximum records:
Yesterday: 75F replacing 72F set in 1938
Today: 72F set in 1975, record already broken
by a high of 73F read at the 1 P.M. observation.
Temperatures like these are seen in late August
and early September!!!!!!
We did set a temperature record for the day before
yesterday, it being a daily max of 72F. This replaces
the old record of 71F, set in 1959.
Summer definitely got a second wind this year!
