RECORD WARMTH THIS WEEKEND, FEELING MORE LIKE EARLY SEPTEMBER….
The low temperature for yesterday’s date was 57F degrees,
this tied the record for the date, also set in 1948.
The overnight low this morning was 63F degrees. If this
holds through midnight tonight (which it likely will),
it will set a new record high minimum for the date,
beating the old record of 60F set in 2015.
Moreover, the low of 63F this morning would also set
the highest minimum temperature ever recorded in November.
The previous record is 60F set in both 1996 and 2015.
Skies have been mainly cloudy today, however this has not
prevented us from obtaining a new record high for the day.
We reached 74F today, breaking the old record of 72F set
just 2 years ago in 2020.
The dew point has been in the low 60s all day as well, just
adding to the “summery” feel. While we don’t have official
statistics on record high or low dew points, I would venture
to guess that today’s readings are likely among the highest
seen here in early November. Certainly not something that
happens with any regularity (at least so far).
The wind has been the other story of the day with frequent
gusts 30-40mph. The average speed for the day so far is
around 20mph.
Visibility has been limited today to around 15-20 miles,
likely in part due to the relatively high level of moisture
in the air.
The high so far today is 74F, which is 20 degrees above
the normal maximum of 54F. The low since midnight is 63F,
which is 26 degrees above the normal low of 37F. These
temperatures are normal for late August!
Interestingly, we will likely end up with 3 consecutive
days of temperatures reaching the 70s (today marking day
2). Here are the rankings for number of consecutive days
of 70F and above for the month of November.
BHO Longest November Number of Consecutive Days 70F and Above (1885-2021):
1) 6 on 6-11 November 2020
2) 4 on 5-8 November 1938
3) 3 on 1-3 November 1927
3 on 18-20 November 1953
3 on 1-3 November 1982
3 on 2-4 November 1990
So while this stretch is unusual (statistically), it’s definitely
not unprecedented.
