DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY

ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

FIRST FLAKES OF THE SEASON FALL IN RAIN AND SNOW MIX EARLY
TEMPERATURES PLUMMET OVERNIGHT, PRESSURE STEADILY RISES

Today’s cold front passage brought in a batch of light rain and snow showers, giving
Great Blue Hill its first (few, wet) snowflakes of the season. Overnight temperatures fell
from the low 50s to a low of 36 around 10:00 A.M. The overcast began breaking around noon,
with temperatures not expected to climb much past the low 40s, in sad contrast with
yesterday’s high of 65F. 0.01 inch of precip was collected prior to the 7:00 A.M.
observation and an additional 0.05 inch fell by early afternoon, which still leaves
us well behind the seasonal and annual average. After the cloud cover lifted,
visibility increased in west and north to nearly 90 miles, with the tree line of
Grand Monadnock clearly visible. Mount Washington Observatory is also reporting
near maximum visibility, 120 miles in this cool drying air.
