DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2013
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
NEAR RECORD COLD ACCOMPANIED BY STRONG SUSTAINED WINDS
SINGLE DIGIT DEW POINTS AND WIND CHILLS THROUGHOUT THE DAY
Temperatures here at the summit have struggled into the mid-20s after
hovering around the 20F mark for most of the morning. Today’s record low
maximum temperature is 26F, which was exceeded just at the stroke of midnight
when we were still cooling from yesterday and it was 27F. Our daytime
maximum temperature is 25F so far, which is thanks in large part to the
strong sustained winds from the WNW. The average wind speed today is
over 20 MPH, with several gusts reaching 45 MPH (40 kts.) According to our
automated systems, we have reached a negative dew point temperature for the
first time this season.
