REMAINING BREEZY WITH PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES….
We observed a great visibility of 80 miles this morning, with
an intensifying smoke layer bringing it down to 75 miles by
the 1 P.M. observation. Wind has picked up in intensity from
the southwest, with a max gust so far today of 26 mph this
afternoon.
We are currently in a moderate-severe drought, this being the
10th day straight of no rain. The yearly total rainfall is 43.80
inches, 1.68 inches below the annual normal. This is astounding
as we had above-average rainfall in the spring.
Some smoke plumes were observed to the north of Boston and to
the south of the observatory at 1 PM.
The low temperature so far today is 32F, 4 degrees below the
normal minimum of 36F. The high temperature so far today is
56F, 4 degrees above the normal maximum of 52F.
