LOTS OF CLOUDS TODAY, BUT CONTINUING ON THE WARM AND HUMID SIDE….
A rather humid air mass has been over the region for the past
couple of days as noted by the dew point rising above 60F. Periods
of showers and thunderstorms have been observed there over the past
couple of days as well, with one such period occurring last evening,
another brief one between 2-3am this morning, and a very light one
just before the 1pm observation today. Only 0.16″ of rain was measured
from these showers, so the yearly departure continues to show a
fairly significant deficit of 4.68″.
Clouds have been dominate today with only some filtered sunshine for
a time during the mid to late morning hours, however with the
developing rain showers, clouds are once again blocking the sun in
time for the 1pm observation.
Temperatures reached the upper 70s today before the sun was
completely overtaken by the cloud cover. While it is a bit cooler
than the mid 80s of yesterday, it is still solidly above seasonal
normals by more than 10F degrees. As mentioned, the dew point has
been in the low to mid 60s today, thus it is feeling rather humid
out there for sure.
Winds have been steady out of the south-southwest to southwest so far
today. The average speed so far is around 14mph, with a peak gust to
30mph occuring before 10am this morning.
Visibility remains poor, mostly due to the high moisture content of
the air. The view has been no more than 30 miles today, first with
thin fog early this morning, and then general haziness and scattered
rain showers early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature for today is 77F degrees, which is 13 degrees
above the normal high of 64F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 58F degrees, which is 13 degrees above the normal low of 45F.
