EARLY MORNING SHOWERS LEAD TO UNSEASONABLY WARM CONDITIONS
ON BLUE HILL TODAY….
We had some early morning showers in the area that yielded us
about 0.30″ of rain here at the observatory. Once the rain
and fog moved out of the area, we had some sky clearing and
bright sunshine. The increase of sun and heat has also brought
in the higher dew points but overall it’s been a great day to
enjoy the sunshine.
The temperature was in the upper 50’s this morning and quickly
rose to 80F before a sea breeze came through to bring a little
reprieve. Dew points have hovered in the low to mid 60s today
and with little wind it has been a very sticky feeling compared
to the past few days.
Winds have been very light and variable at times. Before the
1pm observation we had a shift from the SSW to the ENE, bringing
a cooler sea breeze to the hill.
Visibility has decreased as the day progressed due to hazy
conditions. This morning the visibility was impacted to the NNW-N
with fog from the passing showers.
The maximum temperature so far today is 80F degrees, which is
11 degrees above the normal high of 69F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 58F degrees, which is 7 degrees above the
normal low of 51F.
