RECORD HEAT TODAY AT BLUE HILL, VERY HUMID AS WELL….

The overnight low early this morning was 68F, which if it
holds until midnight tonight, will establish a new record
high minimum for the date. The previous record was 67F set
back in 1992.

The mercury has reached 93F so far early this afternoon,
which ties the record high for the date which was previously
set back in 1911.

To go along with the heat, the dew point has been in the
upper 60s all day making for very humid conditions today.
The heat index at the 1 P.M. observation was a steamy 96F!

The wind has been blowing out of the south-southwest since
late morning with an increase in speed into early this
afternoon. The average speed for the day so far is around
13mph with a peak gust of 31mph occurring just after 11:30 A.M.

Visibility has been limited all day, holding between 15-20
miles thanks to hazy conditions, some of which is due to
high levels of pine pollen. As a matter of fact clouds of
pollen can be seen coming off the trees when there is a
gust of wind.

The high so far today is 93F, which is 25 degrees above the
normal maximum of 68F. The low since midnight is 68F, which
is 18 degrees above the normal minimum of 50F.
