MOTHER’S DAY NOR’EASTER GIVES BLUE HILL 1.62 INS. OF RAIN
BY AFTERNOON

The nor’easter that arrived at Blue Hill last night gave us 1.62 ins.
of rain by the 1:00 P.M. EST observation. This puts us 1.04 ins. above
normal for the month of May and 3.30 ins. above normal for 2017. A total
of 0.22 ins. of rain fell after the 7:00 A.M. observation. The rain
began to slow down throughout the day, but the sky remained covered
with stratus clouds and visibility stayed around 1/8-1/2 of a mile.
Winds gradually shifted from the NE in the morning to NW in the afternoon.
The peak gust so far for today was 33 MPH out of the N at 11:47 A.M. EST.
Temperatures only increased  by 3F from a minimum of 43F in the early
morning to a maximum of 46F in the afternoon. Pressure continued to fall
throughout the day.
