CALENDAR SAYS SPRING, MOTHER NATURE SAYS NOT SO FAST….
What a change in the weather from yesterday. After a nice spring
feel with readings into the lower 60s, a cold front pushed through
the area last evening bringing a sharp change to the air mass with
strong cold air advection, which is continuing today. While we are
enjoying plenty of bright sunshine today, the temperature and dew
point is more akin to late February with even colder wind chill
values!
Temperatures this morning started in the mid 20s, which is actually
below normal for this late in the month. Readings have been slowly
rising through the 30s only reaching the low 40s by the time of the
1pm observation. Dew point values are indicative of an arctic air mass
with readings in the upper single digits to 10F degrees all day. It
is also adding a decided chill to the air as well, especially with
the gusty winds.
Winds are busy today averaging out of the northwest at around 18mph.
The peak gust so far today is 39mph, which occurred right at 7am.
Thanks to the very dry air, visibility is excellent, extending up
to 70 miles all day.
The maximum temperature for today is 41F degrees, which is 5 degrees
below the normal high of 46F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 25F degrees, which is 4 degrees below the normal low of 29F.
