ANOTHER WINDY DAY WITH PLENTY OF SUNSHINE AND BELOW
NORMAL TEMPERATURES….
Skies have remained mostly clear today with the exception of
some distant stratocumulus clouds off the coast to our northeast
and east directions.
Yesterday’s disturbance that moved through during the evening
hours only amounted to a trace of liquid and snow precipitation
but it brought plenty of cold and dry air behind it. Before the
event we were in the upper 40’s and dropped to the mid 30’s. The
temperature only decreased more, dipping down to 14F during the
early morning hours today. With the addition of the blustery
WNW-NW winds we were seeing wind chills this morning in the range
of -4F to 3F. Fortunately, we have recovered in the temperature
department, but still well below average for this time of year.
Winds have been gusting throughout the day, mostly out of the WNW
and NW directions. We have an average speed so far of about 16mph.
The peak gust occurred just after 1am with a speed of about 42mph.
Thanks to the aforementioned dry air, we have had exceptional visibility!
We were in the 60 mile range for most of the morning and improved to
about 70 miles by the early afternoon.
The maximum temperature for today is 27F degrees, which is 13 degrees
below the normal high of 40F. The minimum temperature since midnight is
14F degrees, which is 9 degrees below the normal low of 23F.
