ARCTIC FRONT APPROACHING, LOTS OF CLOUDS AND GUSTY WINDS….
Before we get into the weather, a quick reminder that here
at Blue Hill Observatory, we do not switch to Daylight
Saving Time, as such, all times referenced within our daily
discussions will be in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Today started off with plenty of sunshine, however, as an
arctic front approaches, convective clouds have developed
and overtaken the sky. A lot of virga is also being observed
early this afternoon as well as some brief flurries just
after 1:30 P.M.
While the temperature isn’t dropping yet, the dew point has
begun to fall from the upper teens this morning to the mid
teens early this afternoon.
Winds have markedly increased since late this morning, with
frequents gusts now over 30 mph. A peak gust so far of 39 mph
has been recorded.
The dry stretch continues to lengthen as we haven’t recorded
any measurable precipitation since back on the 1st of the
month. The monthly total stands at 0.13″, which is 2.10″
below normal. The yearly total is 8.13″ which is 2.52″ below
normal to date.
The high so far today is 45F, which is 1 degree above the
normal high of 44F. The low since midnight is 30F, which
is 4 degrees above the daily normal low of 26F.
