WELCOME TO SUMMER; HOT AND MODERATELY HUMID TODAY….

For only the 2nd time so far this year, we’ve reached the
90s today with a high so far of 92F being recorded. To go
along with the heat, it’s also moderately humid with the
dew point in the low 60s. Thanks to some mixing from aloft,
the dew point has drifted downward from the mid 60s early
this morning.

Sunshine this morning has become more of a partial sunshine
this afternoon as cumulus clouds build in the hot and
moist air mass.

A west wind this morning has become more southerly this
afternoon, as such the temperature probably won’t go up any
more as a cooling sea-breeze effect occurs off the south
coast. Speeds have been light most of the day so far, but
has shown signs of increasing a bit this afternoon. The
average speed for the day is around 8mph. Gusts approaching
20mph have been occurring after the 1pm observation however.

Visibility has been limited between 30-40 miles today due
to general haziness.

The rainfall deficit continues to worsen as we’ve had no
measurable rainfall since last Tuesday (6/21). We are 1.99
inches below normal on the month and 7.01 inches below
normal on the year. Our drought status continues in the
moderate category.

The high so far today is 92F, which is 13 degrees above
the normal maximum of 79F. The low since midnight is 68F,
which is 7 degrees above the normal minimum of 61F.
